Christmas Tradition??? ?

All my life my family was not of great Christmas. Never put up outdoor lights or decorated our tree (They say it was because of our cat) We had a tree, not just decorations. . . No interior decoration o. Now I have a daughter 9 months old and I want to start doing all these things. I do not know where to start. I wonder what some of the traditions of his family.

Ideas for “Christmas In July” wedding theme…..any ideas?

My fiance and I are getting married in July of next year. We love Christmas, but its so cold in December we decided to do it in July before school starts back up again. We had come up with the idea of using our outdoor inflatables to add decor as well as christmas trees and other various decorations around, but the main thing that we are having problems with is the centerpeices. We have 12 large hurricane vases, but not sure exactly what to do with them. If anyone has ideas on centerpieces or any other unique decorating ideas let me know. Thanks

I’ve got a platform bed. The “base” is in the center of it, and the “platform” that the bed sits on juts out about one foot on all sides. So, you can’t see the base of the bed unless you’re looking from near the floor.

I like the clean-lined look, but I also wonder if I could make it more interesting. My favorite idea is to use tape or some kind of adhesive clips to wrap rope lighting around the base, where the base meets the platform, so it will look like the bed is lit from underneath.

I would be using the kind of rope lights meant for outdoor use or Christmas decorations, so they shouldn’t pose too significant of a fire hazard, right?

Is there anything else I should be concerned about before I do this?

(Oh, and also, the lights wouldn’t be touching the mattress, in case that wasn’t clear. Just the base and platform (the thing the mattress sits on) where they meet.
Kristy — because of the way the bed is set up, like I said, the mattress won’t be touching it, nor will anything else — it would only be touching the bed itself.

Needed: Information on Electrical Generators for running holiday decorations?

Hi all,
First, background. My family does a lot of outdoor decorating for haloween and christmas, a lot. We are trying to determine if it would be more financially responsible to buy a generator to run these lights then normal electricity. We run them for about 4-5 hours a night.

Also, what are the basics for actually buying a generator. Any recommended name brands? Certain specs i should pay special attention to? Any help would be appreciated.

We’ve got the Christmas Lights up. They’re the Clear/White C9 bulbs, so it’s just a row of lights along the gutters on the 1st and 2nd story of our house. I’m looking for some ideas on other outdoor decorations for the holidays. It gets pretty windy here if that makes any difference. Something with lights would be nice. Most of the lighted outdoor displays I’ve seen are really expensive and the cheap ones are so tiny that no one could even see them.

does anyone know where I can find Branch Christmas Garland in Bulk?

I need the branch style Christmas Garland for indoor and outdoor use that I can use to decorate our church building. I know that Walmart and various retail stores have 9′ strands for roughly $10, but I need around 322 feet, so I’m looking for a place to get it at a bulk price.

I’ve tried searching for commercial christmas decorations, but they want around $5 per foot, making it ludicrously expensive.

Could anyone offer any help? Is there somewhere I haven’t thought of to go?
