1. A table that burns brightly

This Glow Table(£2,195) from Heal’s has to be the best garden gizmo around. It is Italian designed and a real statement piece for the garden. As the evening gets dark watch your friends be amazed as the table’s internal lamp produces a gentle glow. It is suitable for indoor or outdoor use and will seat 6 – 8 people. Heal’s also do some Glow chairs to match in a choice of three colours.

2. Sounds of summer

If you like listening to your favourite songs in the great outdoors – and you like designer gear – then this minimalist battery powered white iBlock stereo dock(£45) from Heal’s is for you. The active Bass enhancement system might make your neighbours shudder but will keep the party pumping at your pad. . .

3. For the Jamie Oliver in your household

It’s not often the blokes we know ooh and aah over aprons but barbecuing is a man’s sport and this is no regular pinny. This hard-wearingGrillslinger BBQ tool system (£50) from Heal’s takes the concept of a workman’s tool belt and fills it with foodie kit.

4. Creepie crawlies

We know it’s childish but we can’t get enough of this Remote control tarantula(£19. 95) from Prezzybox. Incredibly life-like, this radio controlled walking tarantula will create havoc in your home and garden. It’s the furry friend for those with an acquired taste – which is us.

5. Sun trap

Just as a jam jar stores jam, the ingenius Sun Jar, (£24) from notonthehighstreet. com, stores sunshine. If you want your sun to last all day and all night, leave the kilner jar outside or on a sunny windowsill to charge, it will light up at dusk and glow for five hours giving off a wonderful ambient glow. You can use it indoors or outside, while camping, on the beach or just as a pretty alfresco night light. Voila!

6. Weather wizard

Tired of weather forecasters getting it wrong? Have a go at forecasting the rains with Jacob Jensen barometer(£63. 45) from Mode twentyone. The clear LCD format with barometric pressure reads in millibar or inches mercury and is able to forecast in 20-30 miles. Give the Met Office a run for their money.

7. Light up the sky

Fireworks are so passé, try a Flying Lantern(£11. 99 for 4) from Iwantoneofthose. com at your next outdoor do and guarantee an ‘ahhh’ moment. Light it from beneath and watch as it fills with hot air and majestically floats into the sky. Perfect for creating a showstopper on a budget.

8. Hot stuff

Those in the know inform us that hot stone dining is experiencing a rennaissance this season, and deservedly so. Versatile and easy to use, the Giles & Posner Hot Stone Grill (£29. 95) from Prezzybox offers surely the most sociable way to cook. And when Summer’s over you can use it indoors too!

9. Super fly

Ideal for the environmentally conscious parent, the wooden solar powered helicopter(£25) from Biome Lifestyle takes its power from the sun making the blades rotate. Place it next to a windowsill to charge and watch it whizz around your garden.

10. Fancy a bottle?

At mydeco, we couldn’t bear it if you had to swig warm white wine on a balm evening. Hence, our excitement on discovering this digital Wine thermometer(£19. 95) by Jakob Wagner from Mode twentyone. Attach the thermometer around the bottle and read the temperature in minutes; we’ll drink to that.

The Local Government district of Carrick is situated in Cornwall and centres its economic power and industry in Truro, Falmouth & Penryn. Truro is a city that was earlier recognised for the trade held from its port which contributed to the mining industry. There are many attractions for visitors of Carrick, such as Truro Cathedral, a magnificent building, dating back from 1880 when its construction began. Originally a parish church built in the sixteenth-century, Truro Cathedral is English and French in its style and design, which is evident in the rose windows and spires within it. The architecture is very similar to Lincoln Cathedral as the same architect was used to build both. It is seen as a huge tourist destination and attracts over an estimated 200,000 visitors every year. For a historical view of Carrick, visitors can go to The Royal Cornwall Museum which is in fact Cornwall’s oldest and most prestigious museum. Built in 1885, collections include Fine Art with current work from Bryan Pearce, Cornish Archaeology, Biology and Geology. Here you will come across minerals and mummification objects that all relate to Cornwall and its heritage. For a more cultural experience of the district, you can visit the Hall for Cornwall, a theatre that draws the attention of 180,000 theatre fans on an annual basis. It is a huge venue located in Truro, consisting of a single auditorium that showcases west end musicals, ballet, opera and a selection of music performances. Historically, the theatre belonged to magistrates, courts, police offices and the Town Hall. Following the sixties right thorough to the eighties, the hall began to deconstruct however, it was then redeveloped and restored, taking 18 months of construction. The main shopping area in Carrick for local residents and tourists can be found in Truro where you will find a diverse range of shops. Traditionally a market town, Truro’s shops reflect the city’s heritage as here you will find a variety of markets, chain stores and small stores that cater to a niche audience. You can also visit the indoor shopping facility that remains open throughout the year where people can visit a multitude of stalls and businesses. Carrick offers many large scale events that take place at The Piazza at Lemon Quay, a very well known location. In the summer period, a continental market arrives and presents European food, products and crafts from country’s such as Spain, Belgium, Italy, France, which all share their own distinct cultures and produce. In addition to this, a carnival takes place every year in September and visitors can enjoy the fantastic firework displays alongside musical performances, parade’s and an outstanding circus. Christmas at Lemon Quay Piazza is a great opportunity to witness the Winter Festival which consists of a lantern parade that is commonly referred to as The City of Lights Procession. There are wonderful lights exhibited within the city centre and late night shopping is available to all, as well as crafts fairs. Spectacular Christmas trees are positioned in the Piazza and at the Cathedral creating a festive and vibrant atmosphere.
