I’d like to set up my first Christmas lawn display. I’m thinking of buying a reindeer & sleigh that are already strung with lights. I’m curious about how to keep them from blowing away. Also I’m thinking of lighting up a nice maple tree with a spotlight. Any advice would be great. Thanks.
General thoughts – simple and tasteful is better than gaudy and tacky. If you think it might be too much, it is. If it affects your power bill, it definitely is too much. If your mailman can’t deliver your mail any more because of the decorations. . . well, you know.
In general, I would think that the sleigh and reindeer would be spiked to the ground with stakes. If they don’t come with any, go to the local hardware store, sporting goods store, etc, and get some decent tent stakes. That should hold them in most winds.
That will be pretty. Also consider live greenery and big bows for daylight without costing extra. Almost any type of branch can be used, spray paint gold or silver or even snow them tie on ornaments or not but use a big bow and you are all set. Same for pine cones,I recycle them after Christmas by smearing on peanut butter and birdseed and hang them in the trees. Merry Christmas!
The tree just put one of those bog bows on it. in an attempt to avoid the sleigh and deer from falling try ground stakes, and post pics so we can see how it goes!!! good luck and Merry Christmas
